I cannot believe it has already been [four] months and the fall 2022 semester has come to a close. I had so much fun last semester, and I’m excited to tell you all about it!
Last update, I told you I was going to speak at CSF about freedom in Christ and being still before the Lord. I ended up talking about walking in the Spirit the second week, using Galatians 5:13–6:10 for the whole series. I think it went really well, and a lot of people told me that I did well, and that was very encouraging. Around the same time, I was really struggling with feeling unappreciated, and it was nice getting that verbal affirmation that I had done well. Shortly after, I went through my box of notes that I had received throughout the years and hung up a lot of them on the back of my bedroom door as a sort of encouragement wall, so that whenever I was feeling down, I could go and read a few and remind myself that people do appreciate me. October was a whirlwind: my 25th birthday happened over fall break and the whole week was so fun. I spent lots of time with friends and family and even made my parents go rock climbing with me. I’ve been climbing a lot more lately, and I started a climbing club at CSF, so lots of students climb with me every week. I’ve met up with lots of students, getting closer to a bunch of them and connecting with freshmen as well as some older students. I’ve also made an effort to meet up with friends outside of work, at least those who are in town. I’ve met up consistently with my friend Abbie Baker and even went to her baby shower a couple of weeks ago, which was so fun and lovely. And my longtime friend Agnes got married in October, and I loved celebrating with her something that we had been praying for since college. I went to Mississippi with my Flourish group (small group from church) and their husbands for a retreat weekend, and honestly, getting away from normal for a little while was much needed. Thanksgiving week was really fun because my roommates and I had family photos and a Friendsgiving, I went home to spend time with family, and I decorated my house for Christmas. Since, I’ve been celebrating Advent on my own at home, reading certain Scriptures throughout the week, lighting the candles, and turning my attention toward the Lord’s Coming. I’m all ready for the next season of life as this one comes to a close.
