Semester Shenanigans
The summer came and went in a blink, and so much has happened! The semester is now in full swing, and let me just say, I think it’s been the most fun yet. It’s been incredibly busy (sometimes to the point of tears) but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Three and a half months is a long time to catch you up on, so let’s just jump right into it!
Last update, I was about to head to Puerto Rico with my parents. Happy to say, the trip was amazing, and I had so much fun visiting family, swimming in the ocean, and eating all the Puerto Rican food! Unfortunately, I brought home the one souvenir I didn’t want: COVID. For the third time (embarrassingly), I tested positive for COVID and had to quarantine from my family, friends, and coworkers. But once I got out of that, I had a great time visiting friends throughout the summer! I went to Louisville for my friend Karla’s going away party and to Richmond to see my friend Rachel before she went back overseas. My mom and I took a trip to Memphis over the 4th of July weekend to shop at IKEA (worth it). And I spent tons of time with my Flourish gals (small group from church) and their families! In the midst of all the traveling and hanging out with friends, the fitness challenge I did went really well and I started climbing more! I’m even seeing improvement and enjoying discovering new ways to move my body and get workouts in. Next weekend, I’ll be attempting a 20-mile bike ride, but I haven’t really been training, so we’ll see how it goes!
Work-wise, the summer was full of planning and preparing for the semester as well as having our weekly “Summer Study.” We studied prayer and different ways to pray and things to pray for. We had a few regulars, and it was so fun getting to know them! Something new I decided to try this year is a discipleship group instead of a community group. The difference is that instead of meeting with a group of girls once a week to study the Bible, hang out, and foster community, I meet with those girls individually throughout the week and dig deeper into the Word and personal accountability. So far, I’m loving it, and all my gals are amazing. Something else new this semester is our “Event Tuesdays.” Every four weeks or so, instead of doing a regular Tuesday night worship service, we host an outreach event designed to bring in people new people and get them connected. We had our first one this past Tuesday, and it was SO COOL! We had a worship night at Lost River Cave in partnership with a local church’s young adult ministry, and honestly, it was probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever been a part of. Hearing close to a hundred college students worshipping in CSF’s basement is one (amazing) thing, but hearing TWO hundred young adults praising Jesus in a CAVE was whole different experience.
I’m so excited about the rest of the semester.
First things first…
